Annual General Meeting Location & Other News

When our volunteers meet members of the public, they often immediately ask us, “Where is this going to be?” Now, we have the same question about our Annual General Meeting on February 17th! Unfortunately, the location has to change, so please watch our website and other channels of information for an update as soon as a new location is confirmed. We apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience.

A proposed revision to Bylaw 26 hasn’t changed, but accompanying explanatory text has been corrected. The full amended document can be viewed here. Bylaw 26 concerns the election of directors, and the proposed change would enable elections of directors for two-year terms, to provide the organization with both continuity and renewal. The first year would be transitional, with some Directors elected for a two-year term, and others for a one-year term.

We’re again approaching local governments, and are delighted with highly supportive comments from the Mayor of Colwood, Rob Martin, as reported in the Goldstream Gazette here. Grant in Aid applications are being submitted to all five Westshore jurisdictions (Colwood, the Highlands, Langford, Metchosin, and View Royal). We are receiving funds from the Thrifty Foods Smile Card program, and are also exploring other sources of funding to carry this project forward to the next level.
